Energy Exchange #1: Community Energy
The kick-off of ICLEI’s Energy Exchanges began with an interaction with Iván Aranda, from R2M Solution Spain. Iván shared his experiences with various types of community energy projects and the challenges of implementing them, as well as the social considerations that any local government or developer should take into account to ensure a successful project.
Energy Exchange #2: Urban cooling
In this second exchange, ICLEI and UrbanShift explored energy-efficient building design strategies and policy approaches with regional experts. From minimum energy performance standards to labeling programmes, local governments can implement policy and regulatory tools to incentivize the transition to more energy efficient buildings that reduce the demand on cooling using innovative low-carbon technologies.
Energy Exchange #3: Agrivoltaics
The third episode of ICLEI‘s Energy Exchanges featured an interaction with Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, from the National Solar Energy Society of India, on the topic of agrivoltaics. Subrahmanyam shared his experience with co-locating solar photovoltaics on agricultural land, as well as the various business, regulatory and policy aspects necessary to enable this.
Energy Exchange #4: Heating/Cooling from Wastewater
In the fourth episode of Energy Exchanges, Christian von Drachenfels, from the civil engineering firm Uhrig, spoke about the potential of extracting energy from wastewater to heat and cool buildings and even entire districts, as well as the technologies that can enable this use case, and the challenges facing its implementation.
Energy Exchange #5: Future of Energy-Efficient Buildings
In the fifth episode of Energy Exchanges, Vincent Minier, Vice President of Energy Transition Research at Schneider Electric (TM) Sustainability Research Institute, spoke about the potential of energy efficiency measures across environmental, energy and financial perspectives, notably the role digitalization and electrification can play in enabling these gains.
Energy Exchange #6: Innovative mechanisms on project financing
In the sixth episode of Energy Exchanges, two technical experts from the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) and the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) about energy project design and investment-readiness.
