La Plata is the capital of the Province of Buenos Aires and has a total population of 654.324. Its primary sector focuses on commerce, services, and a growing heavy industrial zone. Electric Power is mainly used in homes and the electrification rate sums up to 97%. Secondly, natural gas covers 87% of the population. Currently the only source of electrification are conventional fossil-fuel systems of the EDELAP Company. There are some exceptions of public and private places that have solar panels, but that do not yet feed back to the network.
