Argentina’s Rosario joins ICLEI’s 100% Renewables initiatives!
Rosario, Argentina, recently became part of the broader 100% Renewables Cities and Regions Network!
Rosario, in its commitment to a just energy transition, has implemented a series of robust climate governance initiatives. The launch of 16 renewable energy measures reflects collective efforts towards decarbonization. With its Roadmap to 2050, Rosario is building a resilient and inclusive energy system, moving toward net zero carbon emissions. Rosario also recently released its roadmap to 100% renewable energy.
Rosario’s case highlights the potential of local energy policies to lead communities toward a more sustainable and inclusive city while narrowing down the gaps in energy access and energy poverty, taking advantage of renewable energy sources and striving to improve energy efficiency. Rosario actively collaborates with multiple stakeholders and is a leading city in the global sustainability space across the themes of energy and transport, and is also a part of the Urban Transitions Mission.
By joining the 100% Renewables Cities and Regions Network, Rosario gains not only additional visibility regarding its ambitious energy plans, but also access to resources, and opportunities for peer exchange and knowledge sharing. This strategic decision opens up exciting prospects that can help make Rosario’s renewable energy transition a reality and position the city as a leader in the global sustainability space.
